Find out more about Mallorca using our interactive map
About MallorcaMallorca is an enticing place in which to live or just to hop down for a long weekend.Tourist resorts are concentrated within a few compact areas, leaving the rest of the island impressively un-spoilt, a welcome contrast to the Spanish coasts and the South of France, where the proliferation of caravans, camping areas and high rise developments is an aesthetic nightmare. In contrast to other islands, Mallorca really has everything. You will find long sandy beaches on the east of the island ideal for surfing, sailing and sunbathing, while in the northeast you will find secluded coves and high mountains ideal for trekking and climbing. The island is also a golfer paradise with 18 golf courses, all with excellent facilities. The golf clubs are open all year round, as the temperature rarely drops below 14 degrees in winter. Palma, the capital, is very cosmopolitan. You will find a wide variety of both international and traditional restaurants and lots of designer shops as well as local handicraft. Palma is also beautiful. It has a wonderful Cathedral overlooking the harbor and the biggest old town in Europe. |
