Areas of Mallorca – Northwest and West
West and northwest of the island offer spectacular mountain views, a milder summer climate and very stylish stone townhouses and fincas. Some popular areas are Soller, Port de Soller, Deia and Valldemossa.
Soller and Puerto de Soller
The charming town of Soller is located in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range. Situated some 3 kilometers inland from its harbor Puert de Soller, the town lies in a large, fertile, bowl-shaped valley. Soller shares its valley with the villages of Fornalutx and Biniaraix. The combined population is around 13,000, and the valley is famous for its orange groves and terraces of ancient olive trees. Soller and the harbor are about a half an hour's drive from Palma Airport, and have good connections with railway, tram and bus services. The valley and its surrounding mountain range, the Tramuntana mountain range, are a favorite destination for people from all over the world, especially those who enjoy walking, nature, ecotourism, swimming or simply a peaceful rest away from the hustle and bustle of the better-known tourist traps.
Up to a few years ago, properties in the Soller and the Puerto de Soller were not so expensive. But the recently approved projects to expand the harbor and to renovate the sea front promenade of the port have led to a dramatic increase in prices both in the Puerto de Soller as well as in Soller town. In addition, the fact that building in this area is highly restricted pulls up the value of the existing residences.
Prices for a townhouse in the village or an apartment in the harbor start from 280.000 Euro and for a villa or country house from 800.000 Euro.
Deia and Valldemossa
Deia and Valldemossa are two of the most famous villages on the island. With the towering mountains of the Tramuntana mountain range as their backdrop, the villages of Deia and Valldemossa sit high up with fabulous views over the Mediterranean. Deia and Valldemossa have been a haven for artists, musicians and writers since the early 20th century, many of them making their permanent homes in and around the villages.
Prices for a townhouse or an apartment in the village start from 350.000 Euro and for a villa or a country house from 1.500.000 Euro.
Other popular areas in the northwest and west are: Banyalbufar and Estellencs. Mallorca Residencia has various properties in these areas.
